Square
What to fix in Square, on each merchant's page
When a merchant has something to fix in Square, the top of their page in the portal now says what to ask them, above their Square account details, which used to sit on a separate Square tab.
- A note only when the merchant has something to fix. When something in a merchant's Square account needs the merchant to act, the top of their page says what to ask them and what Square shows, based on a reading of Square made when you open the page. When nothing needs the merchant, there is no note.
- Card payments Square switched off. If Square switches card payments off for a merchant after switching them on, the note turns red and the merchant shows under Needs attention on your Merchants list, until Square switches card payments back on.
- Square connection problems are handled by OrderOut. When the connection between OrderOut and a merchant's Square account stops working, their Square account details say OrderOut support is handling the reconnection. The merchant may be asked to approve it in Square.
- Submitted applications leave Needs attention. While an application reads Submitted, the merchant no longer shows under Needs attention just because Square has not sent back their account reference yet.
- Square account details on the Overview. Card payments, the bank account at Square, locations and recent volume now sit at the top of the merchant's Overview. The separate Square tab is gone, and an old link to it opens the Overview.
Where to find itPortal → Merchants → open a merchant, for the merchants inside your own scope as an ISO, sub-ISO or agent. The Square account details appear once a Square Merchant ID is on file for the merchant.
What this does not do yet
- This is a note on the page, not an alert. You are not emailed when it appears or changes.
- What to ask the merchant is shown only after the page has just read Square. When Square cannot be read, the note states the last reading we hold, with its date, and asks nothing.
- A card switch-off is spotted by the portal's regular check with Square, which re-checks each merchant every few hours, so the note can take that long to turn red.
- It does not say why Square switched something off. Only Square can tell the merchant that.
- There is no note for an application that has not been submitted yet, that is waiting on Square, or that is on hold, rejected or cancelled.
